After putting in his time with seismograph, Bruce Biddinger saw a much bigger and better opportunity, so he purchased what is now Great Lakes Striping & Sealing, Inc., back in 1989. Even with his wife in tears as they left the bank, Bruce had a vision and seized the opportunity with confidence, knowing he could build a legacy! His entrepreneurial genes and risk taking, “baby boomer” mentality has taken this company from one truck and trailer to the 30 vehicle (7 of which are sweepers), 35-employee strong POWERHOUSE it is today.

NPE 2014: The Lowdown on Ft. Lauderdale

Many of our partners left cold and snowy conditions earlier this month to attend the 2014 National Pavement Expo in sunny Ft. Lauderdale.  Those making the trip had ample time for networking, fellowship, and learning from some of the best in the business.  Ask some of your fellow partners for the most memorable moments and you’re bound to get a variety of answers.  For some, attending the round-tables meant picking up that one new idea that virtually paid for the trip.  Others found the Sweeper’s Night Out at The Ft. Lauderdale Antique Car Museum.  This event was special because we honored past NAPSA presidents and gave our thanks to some true giants of the industry…folks who helped to shape the future of the sweeping business.  Finally, there was the Friday night sunset cruise along the Intracoastal Waterway.

NPE 2014: See You In Sunny Ft. Lauderdale

NPE 2014 Logo 2If you haven’t already done so, it is time to make travel arrangements to attend the 2014 National Pavement Expo, which will be held January 8-11 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.  1-800-SWEEPER is sponsoring the Sweepers Night Out on Thursday night, 1/9 at the Ft. Lauderdale Antique Car Museum as well as a cocktail reception aboard the Sun Dream, a 137 foot luxury yacht on Friday, 1/10 , 7:30-9:30 pm.  A chartered  bus will leave the Ft. Lauderdale Convention Center at 7:00 pm to take us to the marina.  We will depart promptly at  7:30pm and cruise the intercoastal waterway. This exciting cruise is open to all attending members, vendors and invited guests.  Make sure you RSVP with Carolyn Bell to reserve your space.

NPE is always a perfect opportunity to learn, network, and spend time with good friends.  Beat the post-holiday winter blues by making the trip.  Remember, all it takes is one good idea or one new key industry contact to make the trip pay for itself!
